Do this immediately 1. **Force shut down** — hold the power button. Do not shut down gracefully; every second powered on risks a short. 2. **Unplug the charger** and remove the battery if removable. 3. **Flip it upside down** in a tent position so liquid drains away from the motherboard. 4. **Do NOT press keys or shake it** — this spreads liquid.
The rice myth Rice does not fix laptops. It absorbs surface moisture while corrosion continues on the board. Sugary liquids (tea, cold drinks) are conductive and corrosive even after drying.
